MILLENNIUM EXTRAVAGANZA
At The Playhouse Theatre

Millennium Extravaganza

On Tuesday 11th January 2000 I went to my first show of the New Millennium. This show, which was a mixture of Drama, Music & Dance, featured The Playhouse Societies. The societies consisted of, The Cheltenham Little Theatre, Cheltenham Operatic & Dramatic Society, The Bishops Cleeve Players, The Hatherly Players, and The Playhouse Company.

First on stage was The Cheltenham Little Theatre which featured Children aged between 6 and 16. This group performed songs like "Consider Yourself" from OLIVER, "I Feel Pretty" from WEST SIDE STORY, "Summer Nights" and "Greased Lightning" from GREASE, to name but a few.

Next we had some comedy acting about some play writes courtesy I think of The Bishops Cleeve Players, however I did not find it that funny.

The third act to come on stage was I think The Cheltenham Operatic & Dramatic Society who performed more songs like "Send In The Clowns" from A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, "A Hymn To Him" from MY FAIR LADY, and "How To Handle A Woman" from CAMELOT.

Next I think was The Hatherly Player who performed two sketches, one about a Doctor treating a Crocodile, the other being set in a lift as the clock struck 12 O'clock midnight on Millennium Eve.

Last on stage was The Playhouse Company who performed more songs from Musicals and ended with CABARET.
